FranchiseInsider #27: B2B Consulting/Training

Franchise Insider   #27

Business-to-Business Consulting & Training

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own

You might think that all your business acumen will make owning a consulting business easy, and that your clients will just line up outside your door for you services.

WRONG. While you may be fantastic as what you do, (and congratulations for building your career as far as you have, on your own!)you won't start out with the reputation, or the name recognition that will allow you to start really strong.

That does NOT mean you should not go into B2B Consulting and Training.  It means you need a vehicle through which you utilize your skills and get the marketing boost you need to truly thrive. Brand Name, recognizable training that has a global reputation, are the vehicles you want working for you. That way you can  put your energy and your skills to productive work immediately and start seeing fast success.

Marketing, technology, curriculum, backed funding (for financial services) all support your business, allowing you to be the face of your business, the talent of your business, the true commodity.

Owning a B2B Consulting/Training or funding business is not for the faint of heart. While you are supported, you still need to get your clients. Getting your clients is significantly easier when you are presenting your services backed by a recognized brand name and not just Joe-Schmo who used to work at yadda-yadda Inc. (right?)

For some consulting franchises you'll be trained in their curriculum and training style. You'll train individuals, you'll train teams,  you'll train entire companies- it all depends on how big you want to go.

Others, you'll be trained in how to run a round-table support groups. Small business owners meet monthly and you facilitate their discussion topics. You also do one-on-one consulting, and training with each round-table member.

A Business Financing Business takes a lot of financial backing. Some franchises match your investment, others discount, some do factoring.

Whatever franchise you invest your time with, you'll be the face, you'll get your clients, you'll reap the benefits. Not all B2B services are home-based, no-employee models, but many are. With some you'll build a team and mange them. It all depends on what YOU want, and how you see yourself in your new role as a B2B consultant.

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A franchise isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...

FranchiseInsider #24: Moving & Recycling

Franchise Insider  #24

MOVING and RECYCLING

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

I know this one will surprise you. Moving and Recycling touches everyone's lives.

  • Do you know of someone who has parents or grandparents who needs to downsize or is moving into a Senior-Care facility? They need a moving and recycling  service.
  • Do you know someone who is simply downsizing? They need a moving and recycling service.
  • Do you have large items you want to donate?
  • Do you have extra stuff that needs to go into storage?
  • Do you have a college student going or coming from their present digs? They need a moving and recycling service!
  • Do you get it? It's everywhere!
And now, every respectable moving franchise is in the business of recycling. The less that goes into a land-fill, the better for everyone. These franchises have agreements with local recycling, donation companies, etc to make it easy for them to care for the earth as well as their customers.
Ever seen an episode of Hoarders? Then you know how much business there is for movers and recycle-rs.  But the local Joe-business can't do it as well a a franchised business. Professionals do it right, do it fast, and make more money.

As the franchisee of a Mover and Recycling franchise you manage the team, you network with all sorts of people, and you feel good the whole time as you take care of our planet as well as take care of our customers.

What's involved? Wrapped moving vehicles, a team of 4 on each vehicle and high customer satisfaction service. If you are great with people of all ages, love to be a help to others and want to mentor a team of young adults, this is the franchise niche for you.

Executive owners need apply- it's for those who want to build a steady, solid, community-service business.

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A great business isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...

FranchiseInsider #21: B2B Cleaning Services

Franchise Insider  #21

B2B Cleaning Services

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

B2B ( Business-to-Business) Cleaning Service Industry is one of the hidden gems that very few people think about, very few people notice, and even fewer consider to be something they'd follow through with. Why? Because cleaning toilets and replacing the soap in soap dispensers just isn't sexy....Or is it?

This is one of THE BIGGEST moola-making franchise industries out there. If you are fortunate enough to land a territory (or two) in this industry, you can pat yourself on the back and watch your friends and family drool with envy. Not because you clean toilets-you don't- but because you have harnessed the glory of franchising so simply.

As the franchisee of a B2B Corporate cleaning service your role is as the C-level executive. You never don a toilet brush. no. You get contracts-huge contracts. Your hire managers, you manage the mangers and  build your empire of corporate business buildings.  Repeat business, recessions can't touch this industry, low overhead, low inventory, high margins...this is IT

FranchiseInsider #20: Retail Services

Franchise Insider  #20

Retail Services!

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

We pass these franchises daily and don't give them a thought...until we need them. Need a battery? Did your phone-screen break? Need a new keyboard for you laptop? How about a screen-repair for your back door? Do you need to send a package? How about just need an envelope or a photo for your passport? When you need them, you expect them to be nearby and ready to serve. Everyone knows about them and uses them, but few know that these kinds of retail services are really franchises.

As the franchisee of a retail service business, you'll be hiring, training, scheduling and creating marketing materials. These franchises require large Class A retail space that has good foot traffic and good visibility from the road. You'll be networking with Business-to-business contacts as well as your everyday consumer. With just a few employees you can run a postal serve, with a large  group of employees you can run a hardware business. All of these types of franchises are designed to be run semi-absentee, so once you have the doors open and have hired an excellent manager and staff, you are on your way!

FranchiseInsider #18: Pets!

Franchise Insider   #18

PETS!

Grooming, Day Care, Supplies and Otherwise

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

C'mon, admit it. Your pet is an integral part of your family and you love it all to bits! Well, then, you won't be surprised to learn that everyone else feels the same way about their pet. Americans spend billions on their pets. From grooming, to special day care, training, to organic food , chew toys and itty-bitty sweaters! You name, it, your neighbor is spending money on it for their little Froo-Froo, Fido and Fishie-Fishie (and the occasional 'Richard'.) Our pets require care, and the franchise world understands exactly how to meet those care needs. Whether it be a stand-alone retail one-stop-shop, mobile grooming van or mail-order food delivery, franchises have it all under control and mechanized to be an easy franchise to own, run, and from which to profit.

As the franchisee of a pet service franchise, you'll be hiring, training, scheduling and creating marketing materials. Those franchises that are retail oriented will, of course require large Class A retail space and a lot of inventory, so you are looking at a very high investment cost. But some are just so fun to run, with their own bakery, training rooms, boarding facilities and pet adoption centers.  Those that are mobile are focused on training and grooming and will have a much lower investment level.  Which ever pet franchise model you choose, you'll need to love pets and understand the pet-owner  frame of mind. (Fifi first!) But, the best part of the franchise is that your little animal family member will be able to stay with you all day long, and that makes it all the more fun!

FranchiseInsider Candy Spill #17: Interior Decorating

CANDY SPILL   #17

Interior Decorating

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

Many Interior Decorators just get some business cards printed up and pass them out to friends and family. That's one way to run a business. Keep it small and hope your friends like what you do to their living rooms... But a franchised Interior Decorating business has much more effective marketing and clout behind it. Technology abounds, variety abounds, and the connections with vendors all make the Interior Decorating franchise the power house it is. Discounts for supplies, latest and greatest technology that helps the client visualize what their new blinds, flooring, kitchen cabinets, storage unit will actually look like. No measuring mistakes or headaches, no 'product' clogging up  your garage. This is a fun business that utilizes  and depends on strong people and planning skills.

As an owner of an interior decorating franchise you make connections,  network, advertise (which is created and ready for you to upload on to your local website) and work with your clients to plan their rooms, windows, garages, etc. You hire contractors to install. All training is provided by the franchisor (as is true for every franchise), as is the website, marketing materials, connections with vendors. This is a franchise where your strongest asset is not necessarily good taste, but great people skills.  Most Interior decorating business are home-based, so your time is flexible, your overhead is very low, your inventory is nil. You'll go to your client's homes or offices, work forma computer program and have some samples with you. Some very successful franchisees scale up to a small display-type office space, but most find it an unnecessary expense. Just hop in your car and start helping your clients improve their home or office environment.

FranchiseInsider Candy Spill # 16: Beauty

CANDY SPILL   #16

ALL THINGS BEAUTY-RELATED

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

Death and Taxes are not the only things that we all know we can count on. We also know that time creates all kinds of havoc with our appearance.  Hair and nails grow, skin sags and...well, I'm getting depressed just thinking about it all.
But those who are in the industry of fixing up our body problems know that they will always have clients walking through their door, requesting that they perform miracles.  Cutting, dying and styling hair creates its own on-going market, as the beauty industry constantly demands we change and improve on what God has given us. Hair cuts, lash extensions, beard trims, nail embellishing, toes, massages, skin tightening, hair removal...it's all franchise-able, and profitable. So, snip, snip!!

As an owner of a salon your main job is to keep your stylists busy, busy, busy. So networking, advertising, marketing are all major parts of your roll. These are brick and mortar, high foot-traffic industries, so plan on build-outs in class A real estate, and to counter-balance, your prices need to cover your square footage  and overhead costs.  But since everyone eventually needs a haircut, you have a bit of a captive audience. Throwing events, sponsoring  sports teams, fashion shows, etc are all part of the fun of being an owner. This is a great industry to own multiple units and to run it as a semi-absentee owner.

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A great business isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...

FrranchisInsider Candy Spill #15: Burgers!

CANDY SPILL   #15

Yup. Burgers. Fast-Food and Otherwise.

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

Burger places have been a fast food staple for decades (and no, McDonald's was NOT the first)  Why? Because everyone loves picking up a simple burger and not having to cook or clean up. And everyone loves the grease, the juice, the flames, the fries, the drive thru-.... it's just an inner need that Americans have to get a meal fast and easy from someone else!
sarcasm... ya have to love it.
But in all seriousness, burgers and fast food ARE a staple of American good eats. Sure, McDonald's and Wendy's are here to stay even if they are struggling to get their menu more healthy. But the fun news is that the new burger places are already healthy and many of them are build-a-burger-friendly, meaning you can get a variety of healthy meats, toppings and sides so the health-factor soars with these kinds of brands and draws a bigger crowd. so while McD is dealing with playground issues (ewww), your place is dealing out healthy, fresh burgers in a great atmosphere and modern amenities.

If you like the combination of burgers and fast food (or even semi-fast food) you'll like the profit margins of these kinds of models. Build out is high because of the need for a hood in the kitchen, but  the public is willing to pay high dollar for a healthy burger. Worried about the big-name competition? Don't be. Not only is there always room for one more, but much of the public actually prefers and looks for the up-and-coming burger place. Remember when 5-Guys was brand new? That's what you would be investing in - a new way to do fast food. There's tons of opportunity for creativity. And, there's plenty of room for YOU! Most of these models have a semi-absentee aspect to them once they are built out, up and running. Hire a great day-to-day manager and expand with your second in a few months. Why not?

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A great business isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...

FranchiseInsider Candy Spill #14: MUSIC!

CANDY SPILL   #14

MUSIC!

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

Public schools are cutting enrichment programs throughout the country. Gym, Art, Music, even Recess are all going the way of the dinosaur. It's tragic and wrong, but that's for another blog. You can be part of the solution by owning an enrichment franchise that focuses on music. With sound stage, recording studio, private one-on-one lessons or bands and choirs, you offer it all to the children of your community. No, it's not all classical music, like old fashioned music schools. You offer all genres. Music lessons aren't just for kids either. Adults want to get back into their piano, guitar, and voice lessons, but kids are the bread and butter of this industry. It's enrichment education because music stimulates different parts of the brain than math or history, so the children actually get better grades (it's a proven fact that children who perform music, and learn to read and write music increase their IQs too!)

Fun? you bet it's fun! Can you imagine owning your own recording studio?  As the owner you'll hire teachers and instructors, plan events and book performances, do charity work, plan and book birthday parties and plan summer camps and seminars. This is a feel-good, and be-the-coolest-business-owner-in-town kind of franchise.
This franchise has great opportunity for semi-absentee ownership, too. You don't have to know anything about music, but you do have to be  good leader, create a fun culture and be engaged in your community.

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A great business isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...

FranchiseInsider Candy Spill #13: PETS!!

CANDY SPILL   #13

PETS PETS PETS!

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

Our animals are members of our family. The opportunities for serving our pets is humongous. Well over 60% of the population is committed to the owning  of a pet and the care of it.  Pet owners come in all ages, genders and backgrounds, so as an owner of a pet servicing franchise,  meeting a broad range and variety of animals and people will be a major part of your experience. Newest info:  Millenials are all about their pets (more so than having children!) And, for every Millenial that has a pet and a job there's a need for pet care, pet grooming, pet food, pet toys, pet.....everything. And there are franchises for all of them. From mobile groomers to brick and mortar day care, what you put into your franchise you'll reap ten-fold. Why? Because people will pay to keep their pets happy, healthy, safe, busy and cute.  So if you love dogs, if you want to work with animal lovers, then you really ought to look into a pet franchise. And, if you want to bring your pet to work? No Problem! You are the boss! Bring them ALL to work.
As the executive owner of any of a pet franchise you MUST LOVE DOGS ( and cats, too). You don't need to be a professional groomer or trainer, but you do have to be willing to be accommodating to pet owners. Most pet franchises are pretty protective of the kind of people they allow to be franchisees, so if you are awarded a franchise, don't worry, you'll be trained on how to run the business, what kinds of employee hires to bring on staff, and if the brand is a semi-absentee model, how to choose a general manager for your franchise. Your daily jobs will be to follow the franchise system of marketing, networking, creating events, and building the brand in  your community.

Fun? you bet it's fun! The hours of a brick and mortar are usually retail, and you'll have a larger staff. A mobile grooming franchise will require hiring and scheduling staff for the times when owners and their pets are home, so after work and Saturdays. ( Mobile grooming is huge because owners are sensitive to the stress created by dropping their loved one off for grooming)
This franchise has great opportunity for semi-absentee ownership. You'll hire another pet-lover to manage and schedule and share the fun!

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A great business isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...

FranchiseInsider Candy Spill #11: Elder Care

CANDY SPILL   #11

Elder Care

Another franchise opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

We hear and watch the commercials about elder care all over the place, but did you know that there are several different ways to serve and care for our elderly loved ones? There's the non-medical types of care, which is  basic care and service in an elderly person's home. There's a model that is preventative care that focuses on  balance and diet. There's elderly care that focuses on nursing care in-home. Then, there are the high-touch medical models. There are placement services that help families find the right kind of facility to move Mom or Dad into When they've reached that point where they just can't be safe in their own home any longer. There's Dementia or  Alzheimer's assessment and care.  Many of these models have an additional revenue stream of temporary injury care, special needs care-giving for children or adults with mental or emotional challenges.  All of these models are surprisingly high-technology, so you can not only keep tabs on your clients and your staff, but inform the family with status updates! Very impressive! some models start as home-based and scale up to office space, while others require an office space from the start. (one model is staffing medical care facilities, so it's all home-based!-nice!) Whatever model you choose, it's a growing model because elder care is one of the hottest and fastest growing markets in franchising. If you can follow the system you WILL be successful.

As the executive owner of any of these models you don't need to be a nurse to manage a team of care givers or nurses, but you do have to have a heart for the elderly and good communication skills. When you invest in a franchise, you are trained on how to hire the right kind of staff, how to run a business that cares for the elderly- even how to deal with the insurance. As the franchisee of an elder-care or special needs- care franchise, your job is to make certain your clients have the right kind and quality of care. You'll hire employees, manage the schedule, market, meet with physicians, church leaders, elder-care facility leaders, hospitals, and families. Owning n elder care franchise is rewarding, challenging and serves the community in a uniquely supportive way. We take care of those who've gone before us and honor them.

Franchise Candy Spill #9: Specialty Foods!

CANDY SPILL   #9

Specialty Foods

Another franchise opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

Everyone knows about this category: ice cream, frozen yogurt, hot dogs, nuts, smoothies, pretzels, fries, coffee, you name it. Wherever there are people, there needs to be great food. But did you know that depending on the type of specialty food you specialize in,  you can choose from a brick and mortar stand-alone to a kiosk to a food truck to mobile cart? That's right. You choose how big you want to go. You choose how quickly you want to scale up to more than one unit. ( you could eventually end up with 20 food carts bringing in $50 every ten minutes. Think about that for a second...$$$$$$, ka-ching....
You choose how many moving parts you want to deal with (a brick and mortar stand-alone has a lot more moving parts than a cart). The fun in specialty food is that you sell one kind of food, and that particular food is hot, hot, hot in terms of popularity. With mobile specialty food you can choose what events to attend: football, concerts, school events, fairs, conventions. You are as busy as you like and can close up shop whenever you want to take some time off. (or hire someone to cover for you)

As the executive owner your job is to keep the wheels turning. Hire employees,  manage the supplies, marketing, host events, sponsor teams, get exposure and bring people to your place of business. Make our specialty food business fun, exciting and the hottest thing in town. This is a fabulous way to participate in your community, host charity events and bring people together.
