Most people believe that franchises are too expensive, only for the very rich, and all about fast food and junk food.

NOT TRUE.

Here I talk with Kent Palmer about the basics of franchising.
There's no mystery, no hidden secrets, just facts that most people don't know about.

Are you curious to learn if Franchises are more than just a revenue source for you and your family? Take a look at these three brands that have been working hard to raise funds for Hurricane Victims this Summer.

Club Pilates: Participating Club Pilates studios hosted relief classes Saturday, September 9, and Sunday, September 10, in a partnership with TPG Growth. Classes were held with a suggested $10 donation per class. Club Pilates Corporate is matching the total funds raised by local studios and franchise owners across the network, and will donate the collective proceeds to the American Red Cross.
CycleBar: CycleBar studios across the country are hosting charity rides to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts. In addition, the company will be selling “We Ride with Texas” baseball hats and shirts, and a portion of each sale will be added to the studio’s donation funds. CycleBar has a goal of raising $100,000 between the rides and merchandise sales.
Dogtopia: Fundraising is taking place in all Dogtopia locations, and its corporate office will be matching each store’s contribution dollar-for-dollar up to $15,000. The proceeds raised will be split between the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund and S.A.V.E. Rescue Coalition, a nonprofit consisting of 100 percent volunteer efforts that reunites dogs lost in the hurricane to their families.
These three are just a few of the dozens of franchises that are bringing aid to Harvey, Irma and Maria victims. I just happen to know people in these  franchises who are actively giving back through their businesses.
It's not rocket science, and you CAN be a difference-maker while owning a franchise. These owners are make a world of difference to those they are touching. If you want to be a part of real solutions in times of crisis, consider using your business to impact your community in big ways.

Franchise Insider #32 : Medical Industry Franchises

 Franchise Insider  #32

Medical Industry Franchises

Yes, the medical industry is NOT just for physicians and nurses! You CAN be involved in helping people with their aches, pains, weight loss, Diabetes, high blood pressure, broken bones... and it's not MLM sketchy pills, liquids, or oils. It's real medical franchise opportunities from which business minded people can own, manage and build equity. In fact, many physicians are investing in this avenue of income as they see the roads of independent practices going by the wayside. ( They are the smart, forward-thinking physicians!)
With most of the medical industry franchise models, you will be investing heavily up front for a brick and mortar location, and  equipping those facilities. You will be paying salaried PAs, nurses, nurses assistants, receptionists. However, some have a very bare-bones staff and are only open during business hours. It all depends on what kind of medical industry you are interested in providing.

A day in the life of a franchisee will be mainly managing in a semi-absentee capacity. You'll network with physicians, nurses, hospitals, the public. You'll sponsor community events. You'll also be doing a fair amount of educating the public regarding your existence, your services, how the public can save money  on their medical bills by using you services, and get the kind of care and service they deserve! You'll need management skills, not medical skills. Your C-level executive skills will be your best asset.

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A great business isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...

FranchiseInsider #31: Storage

Storage

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

Yup. I said STORAGE. The President of Home Depot stated just this month in June that he sees storage as the up and coming huge money-maker of the near future. Why? Boomers are down-sizing, Millenials are moving....a lot! Everyone is going to college, and we are changing our environment constantly. That means, we have to have a place to temporarily store our stuff. Yes, he also said it was boring. But he likes boring and so do I. Stable, repeatable, straight forward, few moving parts and needed wherever there are people who like their stuff.

Owning a storage franchise model means you are going to be investing heavily up front. Lots of high assets are required: trucks or vans, storage units (100), property, warehouse. All up front. But after you are up and running you are set for a very long time. This business requires few employees, a small amount of marketing, some creative thinking (remember, college students need storage as much as the elderly- how do you market to both effectively?) Doing this on your own is one way to do it ( not smart). Going the franchised business route is the BEST way. Why? because the marketing makes the brand and the brand brings in the business. You wont' be sorry to have the 'heavy lifting' done for you. It's well worth going with a group that is aggressively 'moving' people in your direction. Ha!

One-Of-A-Kind-Never-Been-Done-Before

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

Just when you think everything's been done, a franchisor comes up with something totally unique. Well, it might not be "Jetsons-space-age-calliber", but it's usually a new way of doing something better and smarter.

Owning a One-of-a-Kind-Never-Been-Done-Before franchise model means you are going to be what is known as an "early adopter." You might even be the first of your kind. You're #1 job will be building the brand name. Your #2 job will be being very successful and working hard for it. Your #3 job will be working closely with the franchisor to help develop a signature business model. do you have it in you?

Franchise Insider #28:Niche and Boutique Gyms

Franchise Insider  #28

Niche and Boutique Gyms

Just One More Franchise Opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

OK. These are all the rage. Cycling, Yoga, Pilates, One-on-One Personal coaching, Boxing, High-Intensity-Interval-Training.... Pick your favorite and you can have a thriving business in it.
The Big Box crushed the little work-out gyms of their day. The 24-hour aspect, the shopping mall feel. But now, the healthy people who work out are actually choosing to use several smaller specialized and boutique gyms to satisfy their exercise needs. Why? They like the personal treatment, the professional classes, and all the perks that come with the boutique-style work out.

Owning a boutique or specialized gym is lots of fun. You help people get healthy, you see their results, you get to work out, too! The job of the owner is to market effectively to bring in the clients, of course. But the marketing strategy for boutique and specialized gyms is different today that it was in Jack Lelains' day ( if you don't remember him, Google him, the first and greatest exercise nut of all time!) You'll be raising funds for charities, networking with corporation leaders, speaking to not only your niche market, but those who are just curious as well.  Boutique and Niche are very different from the big box One-size-fits-all mentality and you'll have fun sharing your vision with your community.

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A great business isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...
