FranchiseInsider Candy Spill #11: Elder Care

CANDY SPILL   #11

Elder Care

Another franchise opportunity
(that you probably didn't know you could own)

We hear and watch the commercials about elder care all over the place, but did you know that there are several different ways to serve and care for our elderly loved ones? There's the non-medical types of care, which is  basic care and service in an elderly person's home. There's a model that is preventative care that focuses on  balance and diet. There's elderly care that focuses on nursing care in-home. Then, there are the high-touch medical models. There are placement services that help families find the right kind of facility to move Mom or Dad into When they've reached that point where they just can't be safe in their own home any longer. There's Dementia or  Alzheimer's assessment and care.  Many of these models have an additional revenue stream of temporary injury care, special needs care-giving for children or adults with mental or emotional challenges.  All of these models are surprisingly high-technology, so you can not only keep tabs on your clients and your staff, but inform the family with status updates! Very impressive! some models start as home-based and scale up to office space, while others require an office space from the start. (one model is staffing medical care facilities, so it's all home-based!-nice!) Whatever model you choose, it's a growing model because elder care is one of the hottest and fastest growing markets in franchising. If you can follow the system you WILL be successful.

As the executive owner of any of these models you don't need to be a nurse to manage a team of care givers or nurses, but you do have to have a heart for the elderly and good communication skills. When you invest in a franchise, you are trained on how to hire the right kind of staff, how to run a business that cares for the elderly- even how to deal with the insurance. As the franchisee of an elder-care or special needs- care franchise, your job is to make certain your clients have the right kind and quality of care. You'll hire employees, manage the schedule, market, meet with physicians, church leaders, elder-care facility leaders, hospitals, and families. Owning n elder care franchise is rewarding, challenging and serves the community in a uniquely supportive way. We take care of those who've gone before us and honor them.

It's not rocket science to own your own business. It's just different from the masses. A great business isn't for everyone, but it might be for you...
